Coming soon to iPhone & iPad
A quiet word puzzle.
Drag letters on a circular wheel to spell words; the ones you find fill in a crossword grid. From The Shore at dawn to The Night at twilight.
460 hand-crafted levels. 9,273 curated words. No streaks. No timers. No currency.
For iPhone (portrait) and iPad (portrait + landscape). iOS 17+. Android & web are on the roadmap.
How it works
The wheel meets the grid.
-
Spin a word
Each level gives you 3–7 letters arranged in a circle. Drag your finger across them to form a word.
-
Fill the grid
If your word fits, it animates into the crossword grid. Find every word to clear the level.
-
Earn extras
Valid words that aren’t in the grid still count as extra words. They don’t fill squares, but every unique word you find counts toward your Dictionary Coverage — the only long-term score that matters.
Five worlds
A place at a time of day.
Each world is a setting and a moment. Difficulty progresses by wheel size — 3 letters at The Shore, 7 letters at The Night. 460 levels total.

Every one of the 460 levels is free for every player. Nothing is gated behind a paywall — see the next section for what Premium actually does.
The calm part
A puzzle, not a Skinner box.
The genre is famously aggressive about engagement. WordSpin takes the geometry and rejects the rest.
No daily streaks
Even friendly streaks turn into guilt when broken.
No currency or boosters
No coins, no gems, no purchasable hints. Hints are 3 free per day on a rolling 24-hour cooldown.
No speed timers
The grid doesn’t care how fast you solve it. There is no “fastest level” leaderboard.
No push notifications
The app waits for you. No “you haven’t played in N days” outreach, ever.
No content paywalls
Every world, every level, every word — free for every player. Premium is for ad removal only.
No analytics SDKs
Zero third-party analytics or trackers. Only Apple’s built-in App Store metrics.
The dictionary
9,273 words, hand-curated.
Each word was sifted through a corpus of 23 public-domain books, the ENABLE word list,
wordfreq, and a capitalisation filter that drops proper nouns. The
result is a calm middle ground — common enough to feel fair, rare enough
to feel like discovery.
Dictionary Coverage is the headline metric. Every word you find anywhere — in the grid, as a bonus extra, with a hint — is added to your personal dictionary. The Stats screen shows you exactly how many of the 9,273 you’ve discovered. It’s slow to climb, bounded at 100%, and rewards thoughtful long-term play over grinding. Most players will never reach 100% — that’s the point.

FAQ
Common questions.
When does WordSpin launch?
iOS is in active development. App Store submission follows when the gameplay loop and Game Center wiring are finished. This page goes live with the App Store link the moment it does.
Will there be an Android version?
Eventually, yes — Kotlin/Compose, sharing the same data repo (wordspin-data). Not at launch.
Will there be a web version I can play in a browser?
Not at launch. The site you’re on now is a companion: per-level letter-set pages and per-world overviews land here after the iOS app ships, for the curious and for search engines. Playing in the browser isn’t the v1 plan.
How does Premium work?
Premium removes both ads — that’s it. $4.99 per year, or $14.99 once for lifetime. Every level is free for every player regardless of Premium; Premium does not unlock any content.
Are there other in-app purchases?
No. No hint packs, no boosters, no skins, no character unlocks. Just Premium for ad removal — or play with the gentle ad model and pay nothing.
How do ads work?
Two surfaces only. One short interstitial after every third completed level — never before play, never during. And an optional rewarded ad for an extra hint if you’ve used your three free hints for the day. No banners, no mid-gameplay popups, no “watch ad to skip” pressure. Premium removes both.
How do hints work?
3 free hints per day, on a rolling 24-hour cooldown. When the day’s three are gone, the hint button switches to “Watch ad” — one short rewarded ad earns another. Hints reveal one letter of an unfound grid word; you still spell the word with the wheel.
Does it work offline?
Yes — the puzzles, dictionary, and stats are all bundled. Ads and Game Center need a network connection; the rest of the game does not.
What about Game Center?
12 Apple-native achievements (tied to world completion and dictionary milestones) and one opt-in leaderboard: Dictionary Coverage. No speed-based leaderboards. Game Center sign-in is optional — the game works identically without it.
Is anything tracked?
No third-party analytics SDKs. The app does include an ad SDK for the two surfaces described above — its data handling is covered in the ad network’s own privacy policy, linked from our privacy page. Premium subscribers have the ad SDK disabled.
